Renting a car in Morocco: what you need to know

Morocco is a country to drive through. The motorway network links Tangier to Agadir via Rabat, Casablanca and Marrakech, and the national roads reach the regions trains and buses do not: the Ourika valley, the Souss beaches, the villages of the Rif. Renting a vehicle remains the only way to set your own route and your own timetable.

The paperwork is light. A valid driving licence, an identity document and a bank card in the driver’s name are enough at most agencies. Third-party insurance is included with every vehicle listed; additional cover — comprehensive, glass breakage, theft — is taken out with the agency when you pick the car up.

How does the booking process work?

Choose your vehicle, select your dates and pay a 20% deposit online. The agency confirms your booking within 24 hours; if it doesn’t, you get a full refund. The remaining balance (80%) is paid directly to the agency at pickup.

What documents do I need to rent?

A valid driving licence (held for more than 2 years) and a valid national ID or passport. The deposit depends on the agency: Loccor offers cars with a deposit and others with no deposit. Each vehicle page shows it before booking — the deposit amount, or “No deposit” — and the accepted method is set by the agency. For foreign drivers, a national licence is enough if it is written in the Latin alphabet; otherwise an international driving permit is required.

Can I cancel my booking for free?

It depends on your plan. Flexible (+15%): full deposit refund if you cancel more than 72h before pickup, the service fee excepted. Standard: the deposit is non-refundable if you cancel.

How is the 20% deposit calculated?

The deposit is calculated on the total rental amount (number of days × daily rate). It is paid securely online when confirming the booking. A service fee is added on top; its amount appears in the price breakdown, before you choose how to pay.

Is insurance included in the price?

All vehicles are covered by mandatory third-party liability insurance. Additional cover (comprehensive, glass breakage, theft) can be taken out with the partner agency at pickup.

Can I return the vehicle in a different city?

Some partner agencies offer drop-off in a different city. This option may involve extra charges. It cannot be booked online: ask the agency from your account once your booking is made, or ask us on WhatsApp before booking.

Is there an age limit to rent?

Most agencies require a minimum age of 21 and 2 years of driving experience. Some premium vehicles may require 25.
