The premium category: what it changes, and who it is really for

Premium vehicles are booked in Morocco for three reasons that have nothing to do with each other: a wedding or a family occasion where the car is part of the day; a business trip where arriving in a particular car is part of the job; and a long touring holiday where the difference in seats and insulation over a thousand kilometres is worth paying for. All three are legitimate, and they do not want the same car.

What premium does not change is the road. A prestige saloon is no faster through Marrakech traffic and no better on a mountain pass than a well-chosen SUV. It is also more conspicuous, which some travellers want and others very much do not. If the appeal is comfort rather than presence, the saloon category delivers most of it for a fraction of the difference.

Practical point specific to this category: premium vehicles carry higher deposits and stricter conditions, and the exact figures are set by each agency rather than by the platform. They are shown on the vehicle page before you book. Read them properly, particularly the excess, because the gap between categories is proportionally much larger here than the difference in daily rate suggests.
